This new product is said to offer the advantages
of both fan air circulation and fog cooling, combining the two technologies
into an easy-to-install system.
The AIRCOOL fan/fog unit looks like a traditional
air-stirrer fan, but with an exhaust side high-speed water atomising disc
rotor and centrifuge. The latter operates by injecting water into
its centre, and then atomising the water by the spinning/shearing discs
into a 10-25 micron vapour, which is then blown into the atmosphere by
the fan unit. Redpath says, one of the advantages of this system
is that it uses mains water pressure, and needs no special filtration system.
Water flow to the unit is also adjustable.
The fan/foggers are supplied with suspension hooks
so that they may be easily hung above the crop from the greenhouse roof
structure; a stand for the unit is also available, as an option.
Both the fan blower and fogging unit are operated by independent single-phase
electric motors, and all parts are corrosion protected for a long service
life.
Aircool is effectively two tools in one, and may
be operated in a ‘fan only’ blower mode. It is also possible to control
the fogging system separately and set to activate only at higher temperatures
to inject a cooling fog, or for lifting humidity levels inside the greenhouse.
