LONG LIFE GREENHOUSE FILM REPAIR (PATCHBOND) TAPE

Patchbond TM Tape

Redpath Patchbond tape has been developed for the permanent repair of greenhouse film covers & other polythene film materials.  Patchbond features a very aggressive acrylic based contact adhesive.  The adhesive is pressure sensitive.

Patchbond Tape has been specifically designed to Redpath's requirements as a dedicated greenhouse poly repair system.

Patchbond enables the user to manufacture the ideal shape of repair patch needed.  By using a small piece of greenhouse film material the same as the covering, the user can construct on site a strong dedicated long life patch.

The adhesive is particularly resistant to UV degradation & will resist peeling & discolouration for at least 5 years. Patchbond is supplied in 50mm (2”)  or 200mm (8”) wide rolls.  Roll lengths are 50m (164’) & 10m (32’) respectively.

When the patch is constructed they may be adhered to the top/outside surface of the cladding.  Additional strength may be achieved by also placing a patch of similar size to the underside surface also.

1. Ensure the greenhouse film and patch film surfaces are washed clean, dried and patch installed in ambient air temperatures above 10°C (50°F).

2. Lay out patch film on flat surface.  Affix transfer tape to patch (side by side) until entire patch is covered.  Ensure all air bubbles are rolled out.

3. Cut patch to size required, allow 100mm (minimum) larger than damaged area.  Radius corners.  Remove strips of backing paper to reveal adhesive.

4. Place patch over damaged area of film.  Press/roll out air bubbles to provide full adhesion. Note:  In some instances an inside patch may be required to support the outside patch.

Transfer adhesive tape is particularly suited for the long term repair of cuts and tears in greenhouse film covers.

The acrylic based adhesive has good resistance to UV and moisture.

We recommend using the same plastic for the patch as used on the surface being repaired.  This will ensure that the patch material has the desired resistance to UV light and will limit any adverse reactions.

A “patch” system of repair provides the ability to spread load across a greater area and improves the likelihood of a longer life repair.

For commercial greenhouse repair contractors, this tape is also available in a 150mm width x 50m roll (price on application).
