Greenhouse manufacturer and builder, Redpath Pacific
Ltd, recorded its most successful year to date last year. Manufacturing
since 1974, Redpath says its brand goes hand-in-hand with growing undercover
in bother New Zealand and Australia.
“The past year has seen an unprecedented demand
for our newly developed greenhouse designs”, Colin Bell, company general
manager, says. “These designs now incorporate many technical features
to meet the needs of our specialised environment and modern production
methods.”
Redpath says that it receives requests for buildings
with stud wall heights of five metres or above, ventilation greater than
one third of roof area lifting, full automation packages, high crop load
facility for hanging gutter style production, single or double layer poly
and polycarbonate claddings is increasing all of the time and these are
only a few of the many options now available to the grower.
Construction of Redpath’s new 4000sq/m factory
in Palmerston North in 2004 was part of the planning for the projected
increase in its manufacturing arm. The new plant provides improved
streamlining of the manufacturing process and better quality control of
all components.
Reliability is a strong point of Redpath’s structures
over the years, the company says, and its warranted products are testimony
to their confidence in their product throughout Australasia.
Redpath’s production manager, Kevin Waters, has
introduced many systems within the manufacturing process that ensure consistency
of quality and workmanship. Quality checks include in-house load
testing to destruction of greenhouse frame rails, greenhouse film clipping
systems and fasteners used within the structure. Waters says that
there are many sources from throughout the world for materials that could
go into Redpath’s structures; however the greenhouse environment with its
extreme temperature and humidity variables can severely work all of these
construction materials. “We make a special effort to test these products
before placing them into the finished product that goes out the door and
this has had an influence on our products performance in the field”, he
says.
With manufacturing plants in both New Zealand and
Australia the company is truly as the name suggests a ‘Pacific’ region
operator with sales into the United States, South America, Japan, French
Polynesia and Asia becoming commonplace.
David & Glen Williams, company directors, say,
“taking new developments to the market in both greenhouses and greenhouse
products has kept us at the forefront of this business. We are always
looking to introduce the latest concepts from both overseas and locally
into our range with the priority for these being that there must be a production
benefit to the grower. “Our philosophy that investment keeps in mind
the growers’ profitability ensures a long term relationship with our customer
base”.
