Commercial greenhouse manufacturer and
greenhouse film and componentry supplier ‘Redpath’ have added life expectancy
to their Duratough commercial grade greenhouse film product.
The company says “this film offers improvements
for greenhouse operators in the fundamental areas of light transmission,
durability, anti-condensation resistance, and for longer film service life.”
The company comments, “over the years, the Duratough
product has gained a reputation for being a particularly hard wearing and
abrasion resistant greenhouse film. With its industry leading 180-200
micron (7-8mil) thickness and bolstered factory back 4 year UV warranty
it remains the ‘deluxe’ brand that our company offers”.
There has been a strong move by growers toward
longer life films, which offer greater strength and reduced maintenance.
Duratough is compatible with over 95% of greenhouse designs and clipping
systems, which allows owners of most types of older structures to confidently
upgrade their buildings to this new film technology. The film is
also treated with an anti-condensate package that offers a non-drip surface
for an extended period of time.
Duratough retains the traditional ’soft feel’ EVA
base which has been used for many years. This film has consistently
shown that it is capable of resisting harsh UV rays, high wind loads and
is tolerant of a wide range of temperature variations. Duratough
also offers greater light transmission (93.5%) and contains special polymer
resin fillers that improve nighttime heat retention within the greenhouse.
All greenhouse films, supplied by Redpath, are
now stocked in ‘jumbo’ master rolls of up to 1500m (4921’3”) in length.
This allows the range of fourteen available film widths to be supplied
‘cut to length’ to the nearest metre to suit each individual greenhouse
operators structure and eliminates wasteful and expensive off-cuts that
were in the past associated with purchasing films in standard length rolls.
The company says “Duratough is particularly
suitable for long life singleskin applications on both arch and truss style
greenhouse designs where the cladding material is often exposed to greater
movement on the frame. In twinskin applications this material works
very well as an exterior cover with its superior longevity and light transmission.”
Redpath also specialise in supplying a wide range
of product to compliment their greenhouse films – including greenhouse
film clipping systems, repair and frame guard anti-chafe tapes, cleaners,
paints, and anti drip solutions.
