    New Improvements for Hydroponic Film

    PRESS RELEASE

N.F.T. (Nutrient Film Technique) is a well-established and reliable method for commercial crop production.

An excellent level of technology and a wealth of experience exist for this growing technique.  N.F.T. systems have been used for commercial production of crops for over 50 years.  One of the main components of this system is a 600mm wide Blackside/Whiteside polythene film, which is folded to form a cost effective growing trough that the plants stand in and the nutrient feed is directed through.  This film is often called Propanda film and has its white side facing outward to assist in reflecting heat and the black side facing inward to assist in minimising the entry of daylight through the material to the root system of the crop.

Longstanding N.F.T. hydroponic film and capillary matting supplier Redpath have recently further improved the quality control process for their manufactured range of hydroponic films.  The film now includes ‘manufacturers print embossing’ along its length stating the grade of the product and date code of its manufacture.  This is all part of the ISO 9002 standards rating that the manufacturing company has.

Redpath says that these systems assure themselves and their customers that the film is produced to a high tolerance level and that the quality and grade of this product from its initial raw-material sourcing stage right through to the co-extrusion process is being monitored.

Additional quality control parameters for this film includes, consistent roll dimensions, a good U.V. stabiliser package, a high grade of white and black colour pigment and correct wrapping in cartons to protect from light and damage as well as improved labelling.

Commercial growers will find that the films print embossing (Pro N.F.T. and date code) provides them with the ability to monitor the performance and UV expectations of their film after installation.

Redpath says “quality assurance is becoming an issue of greater importance to users of products supplied in today's environment and this new ‘PRO N.F.T.’ hydroponic film identification process enables us to offer additional confidence to our customers.’
PRO N.F.T. hydroponic film is available from most good horticultural suppliers along with Redpath's hydroponic capillary matting product.
