Tough New Greenhouse
Floor Covering

A white woven groundcover fabric is now available
from Redpath. The ‘Reflectamat’ product is designed to provide a
hardwearing reflective barrier on the floors of greenhouses. It may
be used to cover the full floor area or it can be used in the plant walkways
only. It allows water and air to pass through it and thus allows
prompt drainage of excess water from the environment or irrigation systems.
Reflectamat is able to withstand heavy wear and
tear abrasion from the likes of foot traffic and picking trolley wheels,
making it particularly suitable to greenhouse pathways. “ It is constructed
from a commercial grade of long life UV and mould resistant polypropylene
and is up to 10% heavier than standard weedmat products in current use”,
the company says, “which gives it additional durability”.
“The Reflectamat greenhouse groundcover offers
longer service and an improved slip resistant performance compared to our
own range of plastic film light reflective flooring materials which Redpath
also supply. This fabric is often suited to growers using bag production
systems that wish to avoid ponding problems within their greenhouses.
The matting incorporates evenly spaced lengthways marker lines to assist
with plant row and walkway placement plus the matting is able to be scrubbed
or pressure sprayed maintain its clean white appearance.
Reflectamat is available in two standard roll sizes
of 4.2m x 100m (13’9” x 328’1”) or 1.05m x 100m (3’5” x 328’1”).
It offers growers a very cost effective option to improving both the safety
and cleanliness of the greenhouse environment. The rolls may also be fabricated
to any width/length for a custom fit of greenhouse spans as required.
